Using DivX, are the programs more dependent on the CPU or GPU?

Using DivX, are the programs more dependent on the CPU or GPU? I want to invest in the more important component.
Using mostly DivX Converter and Player.

  DivX Converter is totally dependent on the CPU for the most part.

  DivX Player is sometimes dependent on the CPU, sometimes on the GPU, depending on the graphics card you have and the format being played.

  Usually, you don't have to focus much on the GPU. Even a 30$ graphics card will be totally sufficient for most video formats.
