Divx Upgrade vs Norton Security Deluxe.
Divx upgrade wants to load a new version. This is blocked every time by Norton Security Deluxe, claiming an attack with the 'downloadmanager'. The name of the manager is different in several tries, but it is always in c:\user\name\appdata\local\temp. This is a new installation to Windows 8.1 (Heur.ADVML.B). I cannot find the way to send the file to Norton for specific testing and don't want to risk disabling the scan if there is a risk that the detection is valid.

Hello Ian,
Please contact our Support team / submit a request here and ask for the standalone installer - it should not be triggered by Norton.
Thank you.

Hi. That doesn't work either. Tried on Win 7 as well. No joy. I will try to include images.

Hi Ian,
Was this with the standalone installer? What is your ticket number so I can take a look?
Thank you.

Yes. It was the standalone installer. Didn't get a ticket. Was trying when it downloaded and so I just used it.
I added a ticket #2783 with a copy of the problem and images.

Ok. Got your email.
The free version of the DivX Software does include some third party offers that some anti-virus software may detect as what is called "false positive".
I am not a 'free user'. I bought the codec to support VirtualDub (VFW codec) and it says version 6.8.5 (8 Logical Cpu's). I have to install this version first to get the VFW codec installed then it loads the 'upgrade detector) which keep pushing me to upgrade the applications. I do so in the hopes that they will be stabler and faster. But no upgrade to the codec itself. I believe that later versions of the codec were not VFW and so do not affect my VirtualDub install. Please uninstall any current versions of the software you have installer.Since the VirtualDub seems to require the original purchased version of the codec, that would defeat the whole reason I use Divx. I use it to compress video but rarely find third party content to play.1
