Will DivX 7 for Mac be able to play all H.264/MKV content?

• MKV is a file container that may contain any format, but most MKV files are H.264 with AAC audio. There are some MKV files with AC3 audio, Ogg Vorbis and other formats.
• Today DivX “whitelists” AC3, meaning if a user has an AC3 decoder already on their computer, DivX Converter and DivX Player will use it. In the future we could whitelist additional audio codecs if they’re installed on the user’s PC.

What other Mac software products will be available to create DivX Plus HD files?

The DivX community team is working to include encode capabilities into a variety of tools with the goal of integrating support for the DivX Plus HD profile into third-party commercial applications and open source software for Mac. Currently there are not any applications that specifically support DivX Plus file creation but Handbrake for Mac does support creation of MKV files with H.264 and AAC.

Are there any changes to the audio support in DivX 7 for Mac?

Yes. DivX 7 for Mac now includes support for AAC audio in MKV and AVI files.

Will the audio be 5.1 channels?

Yes, DivX Player for Mac will support surround sound (5.1 channels).

Which languages will DivX 7 for Mac be offered in?

DivX Player 7 for Mac will be available in all currently supported languages (English, Japanese, German, French and Spanish). DivX Converter for Mac 1.3.1 and DivX Codec for Mac are supported in English, French, German and Japanese. DivX Web Player is supported in English only.
