On December 28, 2012, DivX will end active support for DivX 8.x for Windows, DivX 7.x for Mac, and DivX Author. Active support includes providing new fixes, patches or development by DivX for issues and/or bugs within DivX 8.x for Windows, DivX 7.x for Mac, and DivX Author. Doing so allows DivX to focus resources on enhancing new products and versions, as well as providing better support for those new products.
Limited passive support will continue to be available for DivX 8.x for Windows, DivX 7.x for Mac, and DivX Author in the form of an information page and existing knowledge base. This information page will include existing support materials such as fixes/patches/workarounds that DivX has available prior to December 28, 2012. Passive support does not include new fixes, patches, and development of any new modifications to your DivX 8.x for Windows, DivX 7.x for Mac, and DivX Author licensed software. Nor does passive support include the ability to contact the DivX support team with DivX 8.x for Windows, DivX 7.x for Mac, and DivX Author questions. Existing support documents and FAQs will continue to be available through the DivX support portal on DivX.com. We will continue to host previous how-to, troubleshooting, and workaround documentation for anyone who may need self-service.

I bought a license for DivX Plus 1/15/2012 which was used for DivX 8.1.2. Do I need to buy a new license to use the latest version of DivX Plus, or can I apply my existing license? When I install the downloaded free version, it does not come with the the "control panel" to apply the license.
