If you are unable to create or login to your account in DivX Player because of an error message about Network Difficulties or a connection problem, this may be due to the security settings for your network configuration.
Even if your computer has internet access, DivX Player itself needs to have permission to access the Internet. This is because your DivX Player account must authenticate your DivX VOD viewing rights with our database.
SOLUTION
Check any security programs installed on your computer to make sure that DivXPlayer.exe is listed as an exception.
You can also choose to configure a port-based exception to allow TCP outbound on port 80 and 443 for the DivX Player.
You should do this for your operating system's Firewall as well as any third-party security software Firewalls.
For detailed instructions on how to configure this on your Windows or Mac operating system, we recommend checking the support articles at Microsoft's or Apple's website to see how this is possible for your version of the operating system.
For details about doing this with a third-party software or a router's security configurations, contact your software or router's manufacturer.
STILL NO LUCK?
If you are still unable to connect after adding exceptions for DivX Player or for the ports mentioned above, you may want to check with your Internet Service Provider to see if they have any restrictions on software applications that need to access the Internet.
If you use a modem that was supplied by your ISP, check if it has its own firewall that needs to be configured to allow DivX Player.
Make sure you are not behind a proxy, as this will block the DivX VOD system.
If your Internet access is supplied on a Local Area Network (LAN) such as a business or school, contact the system administrator to see if there are any network firewalls that would block DivX Player from an Internet connection.
If you have set up a home network for example, you use a wireless Internet connection or you have multiple computers that share the same Internet connection your router may have a firewall.
Check to see if your router's firewall configurations allow DivX Player to connect.
If you have enabled DivX Player for Internet access but you still are not able to connect, DivX Support is here to help.
