With the release of the new DivX Pro we've introduced some new advanced features and editing capabilities to the DivX Converter. We will go over a few of them in the article - please jump to an specific one by clicking on them:
- Enabling the logs and setting a folder;
- Adding a custom watermark;
- Crop, rotating/flip and trim;
- Advanced tab:
Enabling logs
You can now easily enable logs for the conversion process by opening the 'Help' > 'Preferences' menu:
And checking the option 'Enabling log creation' (you can specify a folder by clicking on 'Browse'):
Adding a custom watermark
You can now add a custom watermark to your videos, once you add a video to the DivX Converter, just click the 'Editing...' button here:
Check the 'Watermark' checkbox option and browse for your desired image file location:
Then set it's 'Position', 'X & Y offset' and desired 'Transparency' (0-100, 100 being fully transparent):
Here we've set the logo watermark to the upper right corner, with X and Y offset of 10 and no transparency
Crop, rotate/flip and trim
You can easily rotate, flip and crop your videos now:
We have a separate FAQ on How to Trim a video in the DivX Converter here.
Advanced Encoding settings
There are also advanced encoding options, that includes setting B-Frames, Target Quantizer, Encoding mode among others:
Here is a brief summary of a few of those advanced settings:
B-frames
B-Frames or bidirectional frame stores the differences between past or future frames. The most compressible frame type, holding least information, typically used in fast action sequences. B-frames contain only the data that have changed from the preceding frame or are different from the data in the very next frame.
Wavefront Parallel Processing
Wavefront Parallel Processing (WPP) adds some properties to the bitstream that makes it easier to parallelize decoding. DivX HEVC decoder has been optimized to take advantage of this and decodes streams faster with this feature.
Target Quantizer
Quantizer gives you a known quality level (relative to the source) but with an unknown file size. If quality is the most important factor then check Target Quantizer option set to the lowest value keeping in mind that the lower the Target Quantizer the bigger the file size will be.
