A new feature in DivX Media Server in the DivX Player is the ability to stream and playback your .mkv files from your PC or Mac to your Xbox360, Sony PlayStation® 3, and Android devices.
Simply turn sharing on, then add the folders to the DivX Media Server containing your .mkv files.
For playback of .mkv files on your Xbox360 you will first need to take these additional steps:
Download and extract FFmpeg onto your system. Now tick the 'Use FFmpeg for transcoding" box and then browse to correct path of ffmpeg.exe in the DivX Media Server Settings tab:
On your Xbox360, navigate to the ‘tv & movies’ section of the Xbox360 menu and select ‘My Video Apps’ and then ‘System Video Player’. Under source you should see ‘your computer’s name: DivX Media Server’, click on this and then navigate to your .mkv file, select it and click Play. The DivX Media Server will now send the .mkv files to the Xbox360, allowing the video and audio streams to be played back by the Xbox360.
On your PS3, navigate to the DivX Media Server under the 'video' menu. Select the folder with the .mkv files shared and click Play. The DivX Media Server will transmux the .mkv files to the PS3, allowing the video and audio streams to be played back by the PS3.
On your Android devices you will need to use your preferred DLNA client app. In the DLNA App select the folder with the shared .mkv files and click Play. The DivX Media Server will transmux the .mkv files to the Android device, allowing the video and audio streams to be played back by the device.
**Please Note** - For this feature to work you must have the latest version of the DivX Player installed. You can download it for free from here.
